Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has addressed a High-Level Diasporan Forum organised by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Accra on Friday, April 22.
He emphasized on the year of return in 2019 which saw most African descent visiting the country..
Dr Bawumia called for stronger partnership between Africans and those in the diaspora in the areas of business and finance.
“I stressed the unbreakable link between Africa and its descendants, their potential contributions to the development of the African continent, and the need to continue to open doors for them back to their roots.
“I underscored the role Ghana has played in promoting Africa and Africans in the Diaspora through initiatives such as “Year of Return” and “Beyond the Return” and also reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to champion the objectives of the International Decade of People of African Descent as envisioned by the UN General Assembly.
“Even at the AU level, these issues will continue to be emphasised and with the urgency it deserves,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
