‘Bawumia Can’t Win Election Without Me’-Kennedy Agyapong

Assin North New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament has revealed what caused the party to lose many of its parliamentary seats in the 2020 general elections.

In the view of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, in fighting and internal wrangling among the top hierarchy of the party is to blame for the party’s poor show at the last elections.

According to him, the NPP has not leant any lesson indicating that the party is still doing the same thing.

At least 28 incumbent NPP legislators lost their parliamentary seats in the elections.

Some 21 of them are either ministers, ministers of state or deputy ministers.

In total, the NPP lost at least 92 MPs out of their 169 in the current Parliament pushing the House to be a Hung Parliament.

However, speaking to delegates in the lead up to the launch of his presidential bid for the 2024 polls, Mr Agyapong posited that the break the eight mantra will be a mirage if there is no unity in the party.

“We are antagonizing each other, those who are not strong to voice out will go and sit their corner quietly and watch without going to vote. Those who have loud mouths like me will speak their minds because something has happened, when we went to the Northern Region Chairman Samba asked the Northern executives not to meet me, North East Chairman has also done the same thing…” the Assin North Legislator claimed.

He added: “…but I assure you, I will pay them back…”

Mr. Agyapong is sure that vice president Dr. Bawumia can’t win elections without him.

“I am telling you, he can’t win election without me mark it on the wall, I can’t win elections without you.”

He explained further “If you want to play tribal, I will also play tribal then what will happen to us? We go opposition, we don’t need that, we don’t need that…”
