Bawumia mocks Mahama: I won’t need honeymoon when I become president; I’ll get right to work

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to hit the ground running, focusing on inclusivity and prosperity for all Ghanaians if elected president in the 2024 elections.

In his much-publicized lecture held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA) titled “Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future,” Dr. Bawumia outlined a vision of relentless dedication to making a meaningful impact from the very first day in office.

Challenging former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia dismissed the idea of taking a post-election ‘honeymoon period’ to plan future actions.

“I will not ask for a honeymoon to cool off and think about what to do with the responsibility you would give me. I am prepared and ready to work if you give me the opportunity,” he stated, signalling his readiness to confront presidential duties without delay.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized his eagerness to serve and his readiness to work towards a positive difference.

“I am eager to serve. I am ready to work. I am determined to make a positive difference. You know what I stand for. You know my vision,” he declared, underlining a commitment to action, inclusivity, and the betterment of Ghana’s future.
