Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has boldly declared the Mahama presidency as the worst in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Speaking at a gathering with religious leaders in the Central Region, Bawumia emphasized the need for visionary leadership with a solid reputation for development.
Drawing a sharp contrast between himself and the NDC flagbearer, Bawumia underscored his track record as a problem solver during his tenure as Vice President. Notable initiatives included the digital national identity system, the national property address system, mobile money interoperability, and digitalization of public services to enhance efficiency and reduce corruption.
In contrast, Bawumia criticized former President John Mahama’s track record. “Mahama struggled to combat corruption and address numerous issues,” he asserted. Economically, Mahama’s presidency ranks as the poorest in the Fourth Republic, according to Bawumia.
Confident in his own capabilities, Bawumia positioned himself as the embodiment of change and progress. “I intend to seek the people’s mandate beyond 2024,” he declared. “Mahama’s single-term presidency means he won’t be answerable to Ghanaians, lacking plans for re-election.”
