A 28-year-old sex worker known as Anabel met a tragic end when she was fatally run over by a tipper truck on Friday night near Buduburam, along the Kasoa Winneba Highway in the Central Region.
The incident unfolded as follows:
Anabel had hired a taxi from Kasoa to Awutu Bereku to visit a client. However, upon reaching a location known as Triple X, a heated dispute erupted between her and the taxi driver. Anabel accused the driver of having sexual relations with her, an accusation the driver vehemently denied.
Undeterred, the sex worker continued to demand payment, insisting that the driver had failed to compensate her for their previous encounter.
The altercation between the two was eventually quelled by onlookers, but Anabel remained undeterred.
She chose to sit in the middle of the highway, demanding GH¢80.00 from those who had intervened, as she persisted in her claim that the taxi driver had not compensated her for their previous interaction.
Tragically, while Anabel remained seated on the road, a speeding tipper truck, fully loaded with sand, approached from the Awutu Bereku direction and struck her, resulting in her untimely death.
The incident was promptly reported to the Gomoa Budumburam Police, who arrived at the scene and conveyed Anabel’s body to the morgue at St. Gregory Hospital.
Meanwhile, the driver of the tipper truck has been apprehended and is currently assisting the Buduburam District Police Command with their ongoing investigation into this unfortunate incident.
