C/R NDC suspends Regional Women’s Organizer following altercation with Regional Chairman

The Central Regional Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slapped the Regional Women’s Organizer, Madam Faustina Naa Lamiley Lamptey with a six-month suspension.

The decision follows an incident during a FEC meeting on September 21, 2023, where Lamptey allegedly insulted the Regional Chairman and attempted to engage in a physical altercation.

The resolution to suspend Lamptey was made under Article 48 of the NDC Party’s constitution, which allows for disciplinary actions in such cases. The incident in question occurred in the presence of Regional Executives, prompting the FEC to take decisive action.

A statement issued by the Central Region NDC and signed by Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, the Regional Secretary indicated the entire membership of the FEC advised Lamptey to retract her remarks and issue an apology to the Regional Chairman.

“She, however, refused and rather amplified her action with an unfortunate attempt to engage in a physical fight with the Regional Chairman,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the Central Region FEC has officially communicated with the National Functional Executive (National FEC), requesting them to take immediate steps to enforce the suspension of the Regional Women’s Organizer for six months.

Additionally, they have asked the National FEC to refer the matter to the Disciplinary Committee at the national level for further adjudication in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NDC party.
