Climate Communications and Local Governance-Africa (CCLG-Africa) marked its third anniversary on Friday, August 2, 2024, celebrating significant progress in promoting climate action and sustainable development across the continent.
The organization has been instrumental in raising awareness about climate change and supporting local governments, communities, and stakeholders in implementing climate-resilient agendas.
Over the past three years, CCLG-Africa has achieved several key milestones. These include establishing a network of climate communicators in various parts of Africa, supporting the development of climate-resilient plans and policies, participating in international, national, and local activities to enhance understanding, and promoting climate education and awareness among lawmakers.
In a statement commemorating the anniversary, CCLG-Africa reaffirmed its dedication to supporting Africa’s transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
“We will continue to work with our partners and stakeholders to address the climate crisis, promote sustainable development, provide effective communication strategies, and increase public information on climate change,” the statement read.
CCLG-Africa also announced several ongoing educational activities aimed at furthering climate action. These initiatives include Women in Climate Action, Climate Brigade, Climate Diplomacy and Governance, and Climate Vacation.
Expressing gratitude to the team, partners, and supporters, CCLG-Africa stressed the collective effort that has driven their success.
“Thank you to our team, partners, and supporters for your dedication and hard work. Here’s to many more years of climate action and sustainable development in Africa,” the statement concluded.
