CePTOM applauds presidential candidates for peace commitment ahead of December 7 Elections

The Center for Performance Tracking and Outcome Mapping (CePTOM) has lauded the country’s Presidential Candidates for their collective pledge to uphold peace during Ghana’s upcoming December 7 elections.

The commitment, described as an extraordinary demonstration of leadership and patriotism, is seen as a significant step toward safeguarding the nation’s democracy.

In a statement issued by CePTOM, the organization commended the candidates for prioritizing Ghana’s stability and serving as “a beacon of hope for all citizens.”

According to CePTOM’s Program Director, Ato Bonful, their commitment is a clear indication of their readiness to “put Ghana first” and maintain the peace needed for a successful electoral process.

“We deeply appreciate their collective stance to ensure a peaceful electoral process, which underscores their respect for the rule of law, national unity, and the enduring peace of our nation,” Bonful said.

CePTOM also acknowledged the crucial role of various stakeholders, including the National Peace Council, the Electoral Commission, civil society organizations, and security agencies, in fostering a conducive environment for peaceful elections.

“Their tireless dedication to fairness, security, and inclusivity is invaluable in strengthening the democratic fabric of our nation,” the statement added.

CePTOM called on all Ghanaians to embrace peace as a collective responsibility as the elections draw closer. Political parties, their supporters, and the electorate were urged to avoid actions that could disrupt the nation’s harmony.

“To our Chiefs, Religious, and community leaders, we implore you to be steadfast voices of peace and encourage your communities to uphold values of tolerance, understanding, and unity. Your influence remains pivotal in promoting harmony across our beloved nation,” Bonful emphasized.

CePTOM reaffirmed its commitment to peace, sttessing its determination to see Ghana emerge from the elections as a stronger democracy.

“Let us stand as a beacon of democracy, demonstrating to the world that Ghana’s peace and progress are non-negotiable. Let peace prevail,” the statement added.
