Chelsea have been splashing out since their change in ownership but ended up having their worst season of the century.
As a result, it is expected that they will continue to add players to their ranks with Mauricio Pochettino arriving as their new manager this summer.
One area where Chelsea need a revamp this summer is their midfield. Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and N’Golo Kante could all leave in the same window. And it looks like they have a Real Madrid player is in their sights.
As reported by Defensa Central (via SPORT), Chelsea is willing to pay a €100 million fee for Federico Valverde. But Real Madrid does not have the slightest intention of opening the door to the Uruguayan, and do not plan to sit down to negotiate.
Valverde has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world. He has added goals to his game this season as well and is a nailed on starter for Real Madrid, whether it be as part of the midfield three or on the wing.
Real Madrid should not even consider letting Valverde go at this point of time, no matter what the offer is. And thus, one should expect him to remain at Santiago Bernabeu for the foreseeable future.
On the other hand, Chelsea is being linked with the likes of Manuel Ugarte and Moises Caicedo, two of the most highly rated young midfielders in world football today.
