The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare has urged all Ghanaians to patronize and consume Ghana cocoa in order to grow the economy.
She said cocoa is the life of the economy, the very reason Ghanaians need to support the country by enjoying cocoa and all cocoa products.
“So I will urge you all in this cocoa month (to) eat chocolate stay healthy and grow Ghana” the Chief of Staff noted.
In a video widely circulated on social media, Honorable Osei-Opare is seen making a strong case for the Ghana chocolate.
She said “the Ghana chocolate has a strong taste of cocoa, I can keep it in my hand bag and it doesn’t melt and destroy things. I love it to the extent that I feel obliged to promote Ghana chocolate.”
The Chief of Staff at the Office of the President continued: “In my office I keep a wooden bowl of chocolate here and people love it when they come-both visitors and staff always eye it and it is deliberately put on the centre table so that you can see it.”
She adds: “Our chocolates are very nice, even in the office among the staff there are people who just come to greet me not because of any serious matter but at the end of it all they will say is can I have a bit of your chocolate.”
Honourable Osei-Opare noted: “I enjoy a night cup of milo, it’s either a night cup of milo or a bar of chocolate and I feel very relaxed after a hard day’s work and when I have chocolate at night I feel I can sleep and really restore my energy for the next day ahead.”
The Chief of Staff’s comments comes just at a time when the country celebrates National Chocolate Day on February 14.
This year’s event, which is on the theme: “Eat chocolate, stay healthy and grow Ghana” begins from February 8 to 14, this year. It is the brainchild of the late former Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, who introduced the national chocolate day in 2007, to complement the Valentine day celebration.
It’s aimed at promoting the local consumption of chocolate and other cocoa based products by making chocolate a gift of choice on Valentine day which will span one-week.
