Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Clement Abass Apaak, has rejected a nomination for an award recognizing his contributions to the education sector.
According to him, there are individuals more deserving of the nomination and award, and urged the organizers to consider them.
The MP, who has gained a reputation for his dedication to serving his constituents and his role as a prominent member of the Education Committee of Parliament indicated that his duties are simply part of his commitment to the people he represents.
In a post on social media following his nomination for the Ghana Education Award, the MP wrote, “I don’t think I should be considered. I’m only doing my work as a representative of the people of Builsa South and a member of the Education Committee of Parliament.”
His constituents, he said, have entrusted him with their concerns due to his competence and ability to effectively address their issues. He asserted that his accomplishments in the sector are simply the result of fulfilling his responsibilities.
“My party put me up as Deputy Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament because of its confidence in my abilities and experience to deal with matters affecting teaching and learning at all levels,” Mr. Clement Apaak stated.
According to him, his efforts are not extraordinary and the credit should rather be shared with those he represents and collaborates with.
Hon. Apaak declined any potential award and suggested that the organizers consider individuals that he believes are more deserving.
“I don’t deserve an award for doing my job. I will humbly ask the organizers to consider those more worthy,” he humbly requested.
