Prof. Kwesi Yankah Writes on Bono Dehye Sammy Gyamfi

Dear Sammy Gyamfi , even your enemies will give you credit for your confidence!

It’s an admirable level of confidence such that even when you are lying on very common issues , anyone uninformed maybe convinced .

But it was a terrible one for you to have bodly lied on Joynews this afternoon concerning the establishment of some notable public Universities in Ghana , once it’s Education , we are concerned and will fact check you !

  1. University of Ghana was not established by Kwame Nkrumah ! I thought this was common knowledge for even those who have never been students of UG. For those of us , who have had the opportunity of being students there even cleaners on campus know the history of Ghana’s premier University. University College of Gold Coast ( as it then was ) was formed by an Ordinance in 1948 , and if not for mischief you will realize the University just celebrated its 75th anniversary not too long ago !
  2. KNUST was also not founded by Kwame Nkrumah !
The vision birth by Nana AGYEMANG Prempeh I was passed on to Nana Prempeh II , and admitted it first set of students in 1951 with official opening on 22nd January 1952 whereas the then Gold Coast cabinet was still chaired by the then Governor Arden Clarke , with Nkrumah becoming Prime Minister March 1952 . Nkrumah played a pivotal role in the aftermath and transformation but not the founding .

  3. Now to the most ridiculous one is University of Education Winneba , which Sammy really ought not to have made such a lie , no , that’s too much. UEW as we all call it was not founded by Nkrumah , it was established in 1992 , by PNDC Law 322 . If not for mischief , that’s some credit to your own party founder but to achieve whatever goals you brought in Nkrumah .

I believe Nkrumah has a lot of legacies to his name and won’t need lies to credit him . And jack , there are times you do these things and fact checking you require documents and some extensive works but this was too weak !
