GFP Withdraws from Dec. 7 Polls, Fresh Balloting Loom?

The Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has withdrawn from the December 7 Presidential elections.

The decision according to the party is to posthumously honour the commitment and sacrifices of its founder, the late Akua Donkor.

The dramatic U-turn comes barely 24-hours after the party  named Philip Kwabena Agyemang, popularly known as Roman Fada, as its new presidential candidate for the December elections.

The announcement follows the Electoral Commission’s directive to the GFP to select a new candidate within 10 days, following the passing of its founder and previous presidential candidate, Akua Donkor.

Roman Fada, a well-known radio and TV personality with Accra-based Atinka FM, confirmed his candidacy in an interview on Monday, November 4, 2024.

He explained that his selection was the result of extensive consultations with the party’s leadership to ensure a smooth transition.
