A disaster is brewing at Jeddah in New Fadama in an area commonly referred to as Night Market (Mossi Quarters) where an electricity pole is hanging dangerously over homes.
The electricity pole, apparently broken at the base is being held loosely by the electricity cables that are threatening to snap anytime and ‘rain’ on homes and shops and their occupants.
Residents, on whose houses the cables are hanging, told this portal when it was first detected the base of the pole had rotten away as a result of termite activities a complaint was made to the Ghana Electricity Company (ECG) to change it.
They indicated that though an assurance was given the situation would be addressed, nothing has been done so far and the tilt of the pole has become more pronounced indicating it could go the group at any time.
They made a passionate appeal to the ECG, as a matter of urgency, to change the electricity pole to avert imminent disaster.
Incidentally, the fears of residents have gone up a notch following reports that a man has been electrocuted after a high tension cable fell into clogged water at Railways in Accra following the rainfall on Friday.
A cow was also electrocuted in that same water.
