The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mrs Naana Eyiah Quansah, has commissioned a new District headquarters of the Police at Gomoa Obuasi in the Gomoa Central Constituency of the Central Region.
She also, presented a double cabin pick-up and two motorbikes to the new District Police headquarters to augment their operations.
Mrs Quansah who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, unveiled another police station for the residents of Gomoa Pomadze and Gomoa Aseibu as part of efforts to curb crime in those environs.
Speaking at the ceremony, the MP said the two projects in the constituency, demonstrated government’s commitment to protect lives and property in the area.
She said the construction of police stations were not meant for unnecessary arrests of the inhabitants as some of them may perceive, but to ensure that the incidents of crime reduced in the area.
Mrs Quansah commended the chiefs of Gomoa Obuasi for releasing the land for the project which she noted, was to meet the vision of the government to provide security for the people.
The Deputy Interior Minister assured the chiefs and people of Gomoa Central that government was poised to complete all developmental projects in the areas of health, security, education, roads, and other social amenities but needed support.
She was optimistic that the chiefs, queen mothers and entire inhabitants of the constituency would rally behind the government under President Akufo-Addo and the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to continue their visionary leadership to improve their lives.
She appealed to the constituents to vote for her as MP and Dr Bawumia as President on December 7, 2024, for the development of the country.
Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central said government was committed to providing more social amenities to make life worthwhile.
The DCE lamented about some politicians who were criticising the government with closed eyes to all the developmental projects done in the district, adding that government had kept faith with the people and must be appreciated.
He said the land guards menace in the district, particularly, Pomadze and its environs called for a police station to help deal with it head-on.
The DCE called on the people in the district to vote for Mrs Quansah and Dr Bawumia in the upcoming elections to continue good governance and policies.
The Deputy Central Regional Commander of Police, ACP Francis Ntwor who deputised for the IGP, commended the MP and DCE for their efforts to construct two police stations to curb crimes.
He said the police administration would work hard with the support from the residents to ensure the protection of lives and property and advised his officers to conduct themselves well as their weakness would be exposed in this era of technological advancement.
ACP Ntwor said the service would ensure regular maintenance of the blocks to provide decent environment for the personnel and all who would access their services.
He renewed calls on corporate bodies, Non-Governmental Organisations, and philanthropists to go to their aid with logistics and other support.
Nana Odoom Amanfo V, Amankrahene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area who represented the Omanhene, Obrempong Nyanful Krampah XI, praised the MP and DCE for the construction of the facilities to help reduce illicit acts in the various communities.
Nana Amanfo who is the Chief of Gomoa Akropong said the people of Gomoa Central had not had a building for the police administration for more than a century and praised the government for the excellent job done.
The Chief assured the MP and DCE of their maximum support for the government to seek the wellbeing of the people.
