DON’T CRY; MOVE FORWARD
Scripture Reading: Exodus 14
And the Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. Exodus 14:15-16
Pharaoh is in pursuit of the Israelites and the Red Sea stands before them; caught between the two challenges, God instructs His people to go forward. Have you ever found yourself in a similar situation? God’s instruction to Moses can help you out.
· Don’t stand and cry. The Lord asked Moses, ‘why do you cry to me?’ The question was not the result of God’s ignorance but a reminder of His promise. The Lord had promised to bring Israel to the Promised Land and the challenges that surrounded Israel had no power to alter that promise.
Instead of sinking in fear and despair, remind yourself about God’s promises concerning your life. As the year comes to an end, you can count on God’s faithfulness to bring you to your expected end.
· Move forward. To move forward is to make progress and advance. God is telling Israel that the challenges that confront them will not stop them from getting to the promise He has prepared for them.
Maybe you have not received all that you expected this year but go forward. Pharaoh may be on your neck, and the Red Sea may be standing before you, but your only destination is forward. Go forward into that dream. What God has purposed for you is possible.
· Use what is in your hand. God’s instruction to Moses was a step of faith. The same rod that turned to a serpent when Moses encountered God in the burning bush, was the rod that would divide the Red Sea.
Today, you may not have a rod in your hands, but you have faith in your heart. The God who gave you a miracle yesterday is the same God who will cause you to overcome impossible obstacles.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I trust in you. By faith I step forward beyond impossible barriers. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
