The new leadership of the Minority National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Parliament has conferred with the leadership of the party and the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
The Cassiel Ato Forson team made up of Chief Whip Kwame Governs Agbodza, Deputy Whips Ahmed Ibrahim and Comfort Doyoe paid a courtesy call on the party’s leadership at the party headquarters.
Addressing the media afterwards, Minority leader Ato Forson said the visit was first to thank them for the honour, trust and confidence expressed in them to lead the Minority in Parliament.
The new leadership, he said, recognizes the enormity of the work entrusted to them and the fact that it will require more dedication than just sitting on the front bench of the group.
“We have said that we will deliver on just that and obviously, we have agreed with the leadership of the party that beginning from today there will be a series of activities that will be undertaken.”
“The Minority caucus will have a maiden meeting with this leadership and the party leadership on Tuesday 31st January 2023 and it is our hope that all outstanding issues will be resolved.”
Dr. Ato Forson applauded the leadership of the Haruna Iddrisu-led group and the many successes it has chalked and stressed the new team recognises the experiences and will always confer with them on all decisions for their input.
He and his team, he said, are capable of delivering victory to the NDC and are very determined to do just that.
The General Secretary of the NDC, Fifii Fiavi Kwetey in his remarks indicated the leadership continues to work to ensure the party remains a solid vehicle to deliver its mandate to ensure a great and strong nation.
The Minority group in Parliament, he said, represents an essential wing of the party and acknowledged the work ahead is going to require a lot of input from them and to work closely with the party leadership to ensure they deliver the aspirations of Ghanaians, “and especially being able to do what Ghana requires of us, which is to work towards taking out of power the most abysmal, the most incompetent and the most corrupt government in the history of our country.”
He confirmed the party leadership will meet the entire Parliamentary caucus to confirm the decision taken and expressed gratitude to the whole party followers for their commitment and solidarity all over the country.
Dr. Ato Forson and his team also visited the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin after which Deputy Minority leader Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah disclosed they have benefited from the wise counsel of the speaker.
The new leadership, he said, is very encouraged by the advice of the Speaker and will put in the needed efforts it works for the success of the NDC in Parliament and in the coming election.
