The Drobo Traditional Council in the Bono Region has imposed a fine of GHC6,000 and six sheep on any social media user who will re-share or circulate the nude videos and pictures of some young women victims in the area.
Some nude videos and pictures of some young women in the area have cropped up and gone viral on social media.
The council presided by Okokyeredom Sakyi Ako II, the Paramount Chief of the Drobo Traditional Area in the Jaman South Municipality emphasised that it was an offence to share, reshape or circulate the videos and pictures of the victims.
Addressing a news conference at Drobo, Nana Ama Foriwaa II, the Krontrihemaa (sub-queen) of the Drobo Traditional Council condemned what she described as “illicit re-sharing and circulation of those” videos on social media.
Describing the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable, Nana Foriwaa II said “those nude contents have brought shame to the victims, their families, the community and the traditional council”.
Nana Abena Tamea, the Gyaasehemaa (sub-queen) also condemned the videos and pictures, describing the practice as a taboo in the area.
She cautioned the youth in the area to be wary about what they circulate or share on social media in order not to be found wanting.
