The Electoral Commission will go on a break today. It is expected to resume on Tuesday, January 19, 2020.

In a statement released by the commission, it said: “Following the successful and peaceful conduct of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections, management has decided that the commission will break for Christmas and New Year on Wednesday, 23th December, 2020 and resume duty on Tuesday, 19th January, 2021.”

Ghanaians on Monday, December 7, 2020, went to the polls to elect a president and 275 Members of Parliament (MPs) to steer the affairs of the country for the next four years.

President Akufo-Addo emerged winner in the presidential polls, with the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress, winning 137 seats apiece to form a hung Parliament.

The NDC is disputing the presidential election result and has been protesting against the EC nationwide.

Its flagbearer, John Mahama has refused to concede to President Akufo-Addo and has called for an independent audit of the results.
