Education Ministry not recruiting headteachers for new STEM schools

The Ministry of Education has assured it has no plans to usurp authority of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and recruit headmasters for the new STEM school.

No advertisement, it said, has also been ordered for that effect.

According to the Ministry, all steps taken so far in the operationalization of the STEM schools have been done together with the GES and the TVET Service.

The assurance follows concerns raised by the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) at a press conference on Thursday 17th February, 2022.

A statement from the Ministry said the  press conference misrepresented some facts and created a wrong impression about interference of work between the Ministry and it’s Agency, the Ghana Education Service.

“We would like to place on record that the Ministry of Education has no plans to recruit headmasters for the New Stem schools.”

Neither has the Ministry made any advertisements to that effect. All steps taken so far in the operationalization of the STEM schools have been done together with the Ghana Education Service and the TVET Service.”

“As partners in the delivery of Education, we wish NAGRAT would seek clarification on such matters before going public,” the statement said.
