Effutu MP Afenyo-Markin inaugurates five development projects in constituency

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Effutu Constituency, commissioned and handed over five ultra-modern projects to five communities within the Municipality on Friday, January 26, 2024.

The projects include three community centres and two libraries and are aimed at fostering growth and development in the area, in line with the MP’s vision of building a strong and resilient local economy anchored on the rapid improvement of livelihoods in the area for the betterment of all.

The three ultra-modern community centres are located at Woarabeba, Osubonpanyin, and Ahwer Nkwanta, while the two well-furnished libraries and an ICT Centre are located at Gyahadze and Kojo Beedu.

These projects are expected to enhance community engagements and help improve the reading skills of the youth in the area.

During the handover ceremony, Mr Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the projects would go a long way towards ensuring that development spreads to all parts of the constituency to fit into the Effutu dream.

He also highlighted the significance of the Ultra-Modern ICT Centre at Kojo Beedu, which is furnished with brand-new computers, in promoting e-learning and helping to improve the reading skills of the youth in the area.

Hon. Afenyo-Markin urged stakeholders in education and elders of the various communities to support the Government’s efforts in ensuring that children of school-going age have the opportunity to build themselves and possess the human resource qualities needed for the job market.

He also expressed his concern about children loitering around during school hours to the detriment of their studies.

The Effutu MP cautioned against the growing indiscriminate sale of prime lands meant for development in the area as well as sighting unauthorized structures to affect the proper planning of the Municipality. He challenged the Municipal Assembly to intensify its monitoring to crack the whip of unauthorized developments impeding the progress of the Municipality and retarding the smooth operationalization of the Effutu Dream.

In a related development, Hon. Alexander Afenyi-Markin cut sod for the construction of a multi-purpose office Complex for the Immigration Service in the Municipal at Nsuekyir near Winneba.

Hon. Afenyo-Markin announced that the contract is expected to be delivered within six months for commissioning and handing over to help end the office accommodation challenges faced by the Service (GIS) as well as improve its service delivery in the area.

He challenged his constituents to be tolerant of opposing views and live together in peace and harmony with one another before, during and after the 2024 General Elections.
