We are open to engage NDC on voters register concerns-EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) says its doors are opened to engage the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other relevant stakeholders towards producing a credible and robust voters register.

According to the EC, it is “mindful that the Voters Register is the bedrock of credible, fair and transparent elections” and therefore remains committed to producing a robust voters register ahead of the December 7 general elections.

NDC and its regional offices protested against the EC on Tuesday, demanding a forensic audit to be conducted on the voters register over some discrepancies the leadership of the party says were uncovered when it took delivery of the provisional voters register.

The party after its nationwide ‘Enough is Enough’ demonstration submitted a petition to the EC.

Responding to the petition by the leadership of the NDC after its protest on Tuesday, September 17, the Deputy Chairman in charge of Operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, disclosed that the processes towards producing a final voters register are still in their early stages.
