Ethiopian Airlines bans use of ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags on its flights

Ethiopian Airlines has officially banned the use of matted woven polypropylene bags popularly called (Ghana Must Go) on any of its flights.

The airline, in a letter dated 28th November 2023 cited substantial losses incurred from damages to its conveyor belts and other operational equipment as the primary reason for the ban.

According to Ethiopian Airlines, this equipment damage issue is not exclusive to their operations alone but is shared by other foreign airlines operating in the country.

To address possible confrontations, Ethiopian Airlines has allowed a concession for passengers who prefer using the Ghana Must Go bags, however, there is a condition attached.

These bags must now be placed within an external container or carton during transport to prevent potential harm to the airline’s equipment.

This decision marks a significant move by Ethiopian Airlines to mitigate operational challenges and financial losses attributed to the widespread use of the iconic ‘Ghana Must Go’ bags in its flights.
