Ghanaian starlet, Felix Afena-Gyan received his first career red card in the most awkward of situations as AS Roma cruised to a 2-0 win over Spezia on Monday night in the Italian Serie A.
The 18-year-old replaced Borja Mayoral in the 64th minute but just before the final whistle, he got his marching orders from Alessandro Prontera for controlling the ball with his hand before firing into the top corner.
After consultations, the goal was disallowed and Jose Mourinho’s men were reduced to ten men.
The red card, however, had no impact on the game AS Roma held on to their 2-0 advantage as they secured all three points at home against Spezia.
It’s the first time the starlet was returning to action in the first team since contracting COVID-19 two weeks ago.
