Five regions experience delays in poll opening — CODEO

The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has reported that Polling stations in five regions faced delays in opening for voting,

The regions affected — Northern, Oti, North East, Greater Accra and Eastern — all opened their stations after 7:15 a.m.

In a midday press briefing on December 7 in Accra, CODEO Board Chairman Rev. Dr Fred Deegbe revealed that the Northern Region experienced a 52 per cent delay, followed by Oti with a 49 per cent delay.

North East and Greater Accra recorded delays of 47 per cent and 44 per cent, respectively, while the Eastern Region saw a 42 per cent delay.

Dr Deegbe provided additional details, stating that when CODEO observers arrived at polling stations, 85 per cent had election officials present. However, 12 per cent of the stations had no officials upon arrival, and 3 per cent were visited after 6:00 a.m.
