The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has reiterated its commitment to evacuate all Ghanaians in Sudan to neighbouring Ethiopia and Egypt.
This follows the evacuation of some 76 Ghanaian nationals who successfully crossed the Sudan-Ethiopian border with the assistance of officials of the Ghana Embassy in Ethiopia and are currently in Addis Ababa.
Arrangements, according to the Foreign Affairs Ministry, are in place to fly them to Accra on Tuesday, 2nd May 2023.

An update on the matter by the Ministry said, one footballer and two engineers have also been assisted by officials of the Ghana Embassy in Egypt to cross over the Egyptian border post of Wadi Halfa, north of Sudan, while two other footballers are going through Immigration formalities.
The Ministry urged those in need to get in touch with the following contact persons who are on standby to assist them to cross the respective border.

The government announced its decision to evacuate Ghanaians trapped in the deadly conflict that erupted in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
The war has so far resulted in casualties.
Khartoum, the Sudanese capital, has been the epicentre of the clashes with civilians being most affected.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, in a statement, assured it is coordinating with the Ghana Embassy in Cairo, Egypt which has concurrent accreditation to Sudan to evacuate Ghanaians and secure their safe passage to Ethiopia.
“Government wishes to assure the general public, in particular, the families and acquaintances of Ghanaians in the Sudan that every effort is being made to ensure the safety of their loved ones until their arrival in Ghana.”
“The Government of Ghana joins the International Community to appeal to the warring factions to cease fire and allow negotiations to resume for the sake of the peace and safety of the People of Sudan,” a statement by the Ministry said.
