The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have officially announced an extension of operational hours at two of Ghana’s major domestic airports—Prempeh I International Airport (PIA) in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport (TIA).
According to a public notice released by the two institutions, the extended hours take effect from June 1, 2025, and are intended to enhance airline operations and accommodate increasing passenger demand.
The new operational hours are as follows:
- Prempeh I International Airport (Kumasi): 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- Tamale International Airport: 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued by the GCAA to inform all airlines of the changes.
Domestic airlines have also been advised to increase their frequency of flights to and from the two airports in line with the extended hours.
The general public and all aviation stakeholders are urged to take note of the new operational schedule and adjust their travel plans accordingly.
This move is part of ongoing efforts to boost domestic air travel, improve connectivity, and support economic activity in the Ashanti and Northern regions.
