Ghana bags US$72m from unsweetened cocoa powder exports in 2019

Ghana bagged US$72 million from the exports of unsweetened cocoa powder in 2019, figures from the Ghana Exports Promotion Authority has revealed.

The Authority thus says there is a huge export potential for Ghanaian companies.

Europe is the biggest market for unsweetened cocoa powered, accounting for $54.382 million in 2019.

It was followed by North America with US$9.742 million and Asia with US$6.180 million. 

Africa countries imported US$1.597 million of unsweetened cocoa powered from Ghana.

The top three importers of unsweetened cocoa powder from Ghana over the last four years are Netherlands, USA and Italy.

In Africa, Egypt is the leading importer of unsweetened cocoa powder from Ghana.

In terms of the market positioning, Ghana’s exports represent an average of about 3% of the global exports of unsweetened cocoa powder.
