Ghana Premier League is not attractive anymore – Mohammed Polo

Ghana football legend Mohammed Polo has expressed concerns about the declining quality of the Ghana Premier League, describing it as unattractive compared to previous generations.

Speaking at the “Honoring the Legends” event, Polo said he had expected the league to improve significantly over the years. Instead, he believes the standard of play has dropped, making the league less appealing to fans.

“We have played football here and witnessed many generations but with this current generation, we expected even better football because records are meant to be broken. Unfortunately, it’s not happening. The league is simply not attractive.”

However, he acknowledged that the current administration of Ghana football is making efforts to improve the game, particularly through the training and development of coaches.

“The management of the league is doing their best. This is the only administration I know in the history of Ghana football that actively encourages and supports the training of coaches” he added.

Polo’s comments add to growing calls for reforms aimed at revitalizing the Ghana Premier League and restoring its appeal to both local and international audiences as issues such as the murder of Francis Yaw Frimpong, Nsoatreman vacating the League and fans not coming to the matches
