Ghana Gold Blacklisted?

TNF investigative desk is picking signals that there are attempts to blacklist gold from Ghana. The London Bullion Marketing Association, LBMA is the world institution that gives accreditation for gold that enters the world market.

TNF sources at LBMA shows in Africa, there is only one company in South Africa, Rand Refinery which gives the assayer’s stamp on precious metals.

Ghana’s risk at losing out stem from the fact that there appear to be no information on the chain of supply in the gold industry showing responsible mining.

It is partly also because there is no gold refinery company in the country meeting with LBMA authorization. The combined effect of these amidst widely reported incidences of illegal mining activities also called ‘galamsey’ have a part.

TNF investigations gather that there is a private initiative aimed at salvaging the threat by setting up a company in collaboration with LBMA in Ghana.

So far, the actors are waiting for the needed governmental support and approval to commence operations. Our checks at Government sources have yielded no comment on the matter. But TNF’s Adanko is still digging to know.

Stay tuned.
