A rescue team from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the weekend successfully cleared a section of the Tema-Aflao road of an overturned diesel truck with registration number GN-1905-16.
Divisional Officer (DO III) Ebenezer Yenzu, the Tema Regional Public Relations Officer for the GNFS, told the Ghana News Agency that it took personnel from the service one hour twenty minutes to manage the fuel that was spilled from the DAF truck.
Mr Yenzu said the truck loaded with diesel fell on its roof while on its way to Accra from Kpone, upon reaching the TT brothers intersection.
He said the rescue team led by ADO II Badu Essel, upon arrival at the scene at about 1453 hours, managed the spilled diesel fuel and supervised the transfer of the bulk into a new truck.
He added that the two injured persons in the truck were transported to the Tema General Hospital for treatment while the truck was recovered and towed from the scene to avert any imminent danger.
The truck, he noted, suffered partial damage to the storage tank and total damage to the roof of the head cabin when it fell on its roof.
The Tema Regional PRO for the GNFS said the cause of the accident was not readily known.
