Kobbie Mainoo still “undecided” about international career path- Report

Ghanaian-English midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is keeping his international options open and is yet to decide to play for Ghana or England at the senior level.

This is according to Matt Hughes who reported this development for British media outlet Daily Mail in the wake of heavy interest for the Manchester United starlet.

However, Hughes reports that the 18 year old Mainoo won’t make a decision until he is in serious contention to play “competitive caps”.

Mainoo is eligible to play for Ghana through his parents and the Stockport-born player is eligible to play for England despite playing for England’s Under 17 and Under 19 sides.

His fine form for Manchester United has attracted the interest of England manager Gareth Southgate who is reportedly keen to hand him his debut England call up in upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Bosnia and Herzegovina to ward off interest from Ghana.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council member, Randy Abbey, has stated that the Association is interested in working with talents like Mainoo in the future.

Mainoo scored his debut goal for Man United at the senior level in a 4-2 FA Cup win over Newport County and followed it up with a brilliant winner in a 4-3 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
