GOD WILL BRING YOU OUT

Scripture Reading: Psalm 18

They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support. He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me. Psalm 18:18–19

A calamity is an event that causes great and sudden damage or distress. David, a man after God’s own heart also had his fair share of calamity. He recounts the dark moments of his life when his enemies surrounded him, and he found no way of escape. In the midst of his calamity, David testified of God’s support.

• The Lord was my support. People who have experienced calamity can recount how lonely and isolating such an experience can be. When David experienced such a moment in his life, God came through for him. He gave him victory in the place of despair and delivered him from calamity. The Lord is able to provide support for His children and rescue them from distress.

• He brought me out into a broad place. The broad place is a good and safe place. When the Lord lifts us out, He takes us from the place of difficulty and brings us into a place of comfort. He delivers us out of darkness and brings us into His light. God’s deliverance takes us from the worst of situations and brings us into His best for us.

• He delivered me because He delighted in me. God’s deliverance reveals His love and mercy towards us. David acknowledged that God rescued Him because He was pleased with him. May our lives please the Lord and cause Him to intervene in our circumstances.

Today, we can rest in the assurance of God’s deliverance. He will take us out of the many waters and set us in a good place.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, your hand has delivered me. You have brought me into a good place. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
