Gov’t okays new DVLA Office at Bohye

Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Benito Owusu-Bio, has inspected the newly constructed office for the Greater Accra Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), in Bohye, a suburb of Kwabenya.

The Deputy Minister highlighted the collaborative effort between the ministry and a private developer to erect the state-of-the-art facility, emphasizing the project’s completion.

“The new DVLA office stands as a testament to the commitment of the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the private developer.”

“We’ve ensured ample space and facilities for smooth operations,” stated Mr. Owusu-Bio during a media interaction.

The new headquarters, designed to alleviate congestion and streamline processes, occupies a spacious six-acre land, offering enhanced parking facilities for both vehicles and clients.

The modern facility is poised to accommodate the simultaneous inspection of more than 10 vehicles thereby optimizing efficiency.

“This project, spearheaded by Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor and President Nana Akufo-Addo, exemplifies the government’s collaboration with the private sector to bring positive change to various sectors of the country,” the Deputy Minister affirmed.

However, challenges loom as the Ministry seeks a swift resolution regarding the construction of the access road to the new DVLA office.

Despite initial plans for the contractor to handle this crucial aspect, the Ministry of Roads Highways has reportedly allocated the responsibility to another contractor.

“We’re in talks to ensure the swift commencement of the road construction. Failure to address this promptly may result in challenges, especially with the anticipated increase in traffic once the DVLA office is operational,” warned Mr. Owusu-Bio.

He underscored the government’s dedication to infrastructure development, urging Ghanaian businesses and investors to take the initiative in such projects.

As the project nears completion, anticipation builds for the Greater Accra DVLA to transition to its modernized home, pending the resolution of the crucial road construction issue.
