Gov’t sacks School Feeding boss after one year in office

The government has with immediate effect terminated the appointment of Mrs. Getrude Quashigah, the National Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).

A letter dated May 18, 2021 sighted by the paper did not disclose any cause of the dismissal except to direct Mrs. Quashigah to hand over “any official documents or property in your custody to the Chief Director of the Ministry”.

The letter signed by Honourable Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Minister for Gender Children And Social Protection (MoGCSP) while wishing Mrs Quashigah well in her future endeavors thanked her for her service to the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

“We appreciate your support towards the execution of the mandate of the Ghana School Feeding Programme during the period.”

Mrs. Quashigah, who was acting as the National coordinator of the GSFP was confirmed as the substantive national coordinator of the programme last year.

Her confirmation followed the dismissal of the former coordinator, Dr Kwame Adu-Nsiah, who was exonerated from allegations of “fictitious deals” in the management of the programme.

However, a committee that was set up by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to probe the issue exonerated him from any wrongdoing after almost one year of investigation.

The committee, which was chaired by the Senior Minister, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, recommended that he should be reinstated with all his entitlements restored to him.
