A Chief in Assin North has made a ‘prophetic’ statement suggesting the President will be humiliated by the end of the Gyakye Quayson trial.
In a scathing attack on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Krontihene of Assin Chiano-Ayaase, Nana Kwaku Awuah Jutua, accused him of influencing the prosecution of the Assin North Member of Parliament.
During a Thanksgiving Service held in Assin Breku on Sunday, Nana Kwaku Awuah Jutua expressed his belief that if the Assin North MP is sentenced to jail following the trial, it would be due to President Akufo-Addo’s influence over the judges.
He alleged that the President had already made statements at a rally prior to the by-election, asserting that Gyakye Quayson would be imprisoned and incapable of fulfilling his duties as an MP while incarcerated.
“However, if the MP is acquitted and discharged, President Akufo-Addo will have eggs on his face,” warned Nana Kwaku Awuah Jutua.
The traditional ruler also issued a stern warning, stating that if Hon. Gyakye Quayson is indeed imprisoned, the Chiefs in the Assin North Constituency will advise their people to vote against the NPP in all future elections.
He further criticized those who condemned Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II for his plea to the President and Attorney General to drop the prosecution of Hon. Gyakye Quayson.
He firmly supported the Dormahene’s call, viewing it as a step towards unity and development for the Assin North Constituency and the entire country.
These remarks from the Assin Chief raise concerns about potential political interference and its impact on the judiciary.
As the trial unfolds, the eyes of the nation remain fixed on the proceedings, awaiting the final verdict that will shape the future of the Assin North Constituency and its political landscape.
