Massive Endorsement For Afriyie Akoto As Ho Central Polling Station Executives Declare Support

Some Electoral Area Coordinators and Polling Station Executives of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ho Central constituency in the Volta Region have thrown their massive support behind Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a flagbearer hopeful of the party.

They believe Dr. Afriyie Akoto is the best person to lead the party to break the eight-year governance cycle which has been the order of the day under the Fourth Republic.

They made the endorsement at a meeting held between representatives from all polling stations in Ho Central and Dr. Afriyie Akoto’s Campaign Coordinator, Peter Oteng Darko in Ho

Speaking in an interview, Abdulai Fati, Women’s Organizer at the Herve Basic School Polling Station in the Amervo Electoral Area, said they were motivated to support Dr. Afriyie Akoto’s candidature because they buy into his vision of facilitating the establishment of factories in constituencies by the party to provide sustainable jobs for party members.

“We buy into his vision of making the party to establish factories in the various constituencies to employ the teeming youth in the area when he’s elected Flagbearer and ultimately, the President of the Republic of Ghana. We have realized that government appointments will not be enough for even the polling station executives, let alone we going to solicit for more jobs for party members at the grassroot level. Dr. Afriyie Akoto’s vision is to provide jobs for the youth and that’s why we fully support his bid”, noted Abdulai Fati

She added “We are confident that if Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto is elected President, based on his expertise in Agriculture to ensure the establishment of mechanized farms to employ the teeming unemployed youth”.

The National Campaign Coordinator of the Dr. Afriyie Akoto Campaign, Peter Oteng Darko, commenting on the event, said he was overwhelmed by the support some the Ho Central Electoral Area Coordinators and polling station executives have thrown behind the former Food and Agriculture Minister.

“Dr. Afriyie Akoto believes that it is time the party also starts to run its own businesses to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth apart from what the government will provide for them as it is done other jurisdictions. This is what he intends to do and I am very happy that the party members at the grassroots level are buying into his vision. Dr. Afriyie Akoto is an action man who will work to realize this dream if he becomes the flagbearer of the NPP and subsequently as the President of the Republic of Ghana”, he noted.

The governing NPP opened nomination for presidential primary on Friday, May 26, 2023. Nominations will end on Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Special Electoral College Elections (if any) will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 and National Congress slated for Saturday, November 4, 2023.
