The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Boye Laryea has reiterated the commitment of the Assembly to spearhead the developmental agenda of the Municipality.
He stated that the Assembly is mandated to lead the development drive of the people in its jurisdiction.
“When an Assembly is created people want to see development, so this is one of the developments we can bring to the people…”.
Honourable Laryea gave the assurance in an interaction with journalists in Accra on Thursday during a tour of ongoing project sites in the Municipality.
He continued: “The Assembly was created to at least do something for the people and so everybody should come onboard; let’s all support so that we can have a better Ghana within the Okaikwei North Municipality”.
The Okaikwei North Municipal Chief Executive indicated the three kilometres drain project is scattered within the various electoral areas in the Municipality including Achimota, Nii Boi Town, Chistian village and Kisseman, giving each community its fair share of the much-needed development.
Honourable Laryea stated that “if for nothing at all, I should leave some legacy for Achimota people to know that the Assembly has come to help…. Three months from now the drain will be completed”.
Touching on the setbacks confronting the progress of the projects, the Okaikwei North MCE disclosed that but for the activities of encroachers, the project would have been at an advanced stage.
“All other places have been asphalted except this place, if we don’t take up this drain issue, there is no way we can put any asphalt on the road” he said.
Honourable Laryea further disclosed that the tour was to plead and engage with people who are unwilling to cooperate with the contractor to do so to see the realization of the project.
The tour also offered Honourable Laryea the opportunity to interact with the contractors on site and to have first-hand information on the progress and challenges.
Other senior staff of the Assembly who were part of the tour are: Mr. Kwame Brefo-Boateng, the Chief Development Planner, Mrs. Irene Ofei Addo, the Municipal Urban Roads Engineer and Madam Veronica Kuworye, the Information Officer.
