The Member of Parliament (MP) for Effia Constituency says he has no connection with some individuals impersonating him and defrauding people on social media.
According to him, these people he described as “unscrupulous” have created social media accounts bearing his name and images, using same to defraud unsuspecting individuals on Facebook.
In a statement issued in Accra and signed by Mr. Joseph Cudjoe who is also the Minister for Public Enterprises, the impression being created is that “they can secure jobs and scholarships and offer opportunities for people at a fee.”
Noting that unfortunately, people have become victims of these fraudsters and scammers, he maintained that he has no links with the said group of persons or individuals.
“i hereby state that I have no connection with these fraudsters and scammers who persist in defrauding and scamming people using my name and image. I distance myself from thses miscreants of our society.”
The Effia Constituency MP indicated; “one of the phone numbers these criminals ask their prospects to contact is 0573428508” registered in the name of one Bennett Togbe Saah.
The Public Enterprises Minister for this reason said he would go all lengths to ensure that the culprits are arrested by the police.
“Having reported this in the past, I will follow up on actions that are being taken by the Ghana Police Service, National Security as well as the National Cyber Security Centre to assit in apprehending thses imposters on social media who are damaging my hard won reputation”.
