I haven’t been served any notice to appear before Privileges Committee; I’m unaware of such a meeting – Adwoa Safo

The Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, says she’s unaware of any investigation into her continuous absence from the Chamber which has breached the 15-day rule in Parliament.

According to her, she has not been served any notice to appear before Parliament’s Privileges Committee which is investigating her and two other NPP MPs for absenting themselves from the House for 15 days.

In an earlier interview with Accra-based Joy News ahead of the committee deliberations, Ranking Member on the Privileges Committee, George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan revealed that the Committee has officially written to all the three MPs and added that ” the invitation has gone out as far as I am concerned,” with Adwoa Safo expected to appear on Friday, May 27, 2022.

But in an exclusive interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Thursday, May 26, 2022, the Gender Minister said she only heard of the meeting through her interview on the channel.

“I am not aware such a thing has been given to me. I am just hearing it from you. As we speak, I don’t know that I have been invited. I have to be served,” she said.
