Ignore Reports Drawing Japekrom Traditional Council Into Partisan Politics

The Paramount Chief of Mpuasu-Japekrom Traditional Area has denied reports circulating on social media suggesting the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Abronye DC has described the Council “as good for nothing”.

According to the Council, it is unacceptable that political actors in an attempt to score cheap political points will drag the council and the office of the Paramount Chief into the upcoming election of the Bono Region New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives.

The Council in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Office of the Paramount Chief and the Japekrom Traditional Council insisted that those who aim at political victories must put forward arguments that showcase their uniqueness in ideas, policies and leadership rather than rely on falsehoods.

PRESS STATEMENT

To All Media Houses

DISCLAIMER: WHY DO YOU MAINTAIN ABRONYE DC AS BONO REGIONAL CHAIRMAN AGAIN?

The attention of the Office of the Paramount Chief of Mpuasu-Japekrom Traditional Area has been drawn to a media publication on the above subject, by an unknown author circulating on various social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp, alleging that Abronye DC, who is the Bono Regional Chairman of the NPP, “described the whole Jaman South including the three paramountcies (DROBO, JAPEKROM AND DWENEM) as good for nothing people and challenged their authority and questioned them that ‘who do they think they are?’ ”

The Office of the Paramount Chief of Mpuasu-Japekrom Traditional Area wishes to state categorically that it fully dissociates itself from the said publication on the following grounds:

  1. The Mpuasu-Japekrom Omanhene does not engage in active partisan politics and for that matter neither he nor any member of the Japekrom Traditional Council has had any form of direct confrontation with Abronye DC along political lines.
  • The Mpuasu-Japekrom Omanhene has good working relationship with all political party leadership across the country, including Abronye DC, since they are key partners in national development.
  • The Japekrom Traditional Council finds it unacceptable that political actors in an attempt to score cheap political points will drag the council and the office of the Paramount Chief into the upcoming election of the Bono Region New Patriotic Party (NPP) executives. Those who aim at political victories must put forward arguments that showcase their uniqueness in ideas, policies and leadership rather than rely on falsehoods.

Against this background, the Office of the Mpuasu-Japekrom Omanhene, and for that matter the Japekrom Traditional Council, requests the good people of Ghana to ignore the said publication, particularly the part that seems to suggest that Abronye DC described the good people of Gyaman as “good for nothing”.
