Nana Asare Baffour writes: Isaac Adongo’s Unfounded Allegations Against Dr. Bawumia: A Display of Desperation

In an unfortunate turn of events, Isaac Adongo, a Member of Parliament for the Bolgatanga Central constituency, has decided to employ baseless and irresponsible claims against the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Adongo’s assertion that Dr. Bawumia, a devout Muslim, drinks alcohol and eats pork is not only a blatant lie but also an egregious attempt at character assassination.

Dr. Bawumia, who has consistently upheld his Islamic faith, does not partake in such practices. These allegations are nothing more than a smear campaign orchestrated to divert attention from the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s inability to present viable solutions for the economic challenges facing the country. Instead of engaging in meaningful debates on policies and ideas, Adongo has resorted to attacking Dr. Bawumia’s personal beliefs, which is both unprofessional and shameful.

It is surprising that an individual like Isaac Adongo, who is touted as the NDC’s economic guru, would abandon substantive discussions on policy to engage in “dirty politics.” Ghanaians are looking for leaders who will tackle the pressing issues facing the country, not politicians who resort to mudslinging.

Dr. Bawumia has proven himself as a leader with a clear vision for economic transformation, and his track record speaks volumes. Ghanaians will vote for him, not because of cheap propaganda, but because of the solid economic policies he has put forward to improve the lives of all citizens.

As the country moves closer to the 2024 general elections, political discourse must be centered on policy and development. The people of Ghana deserve better than lies and deceit. Let the conversation be about the future of our nation and the prosperity of its people.
