Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has labelled the recent ministerial reshuffle by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, particularly the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister, as ‘window dressing.’
The reshuffle, announced on February 14, saw significant changes within the government, affecting 13 ministers, including 10 cabinet ministers and two regional ministers.
Mohammed Amin Adam, previously a Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, has succeeded Ofori-Atta.
However, Ofori-Atta has been appointed as the Presidential Advisor on the Economy, raising concerns over his continued influence.
In a conversation on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Adongo expressed respect for Adam’s competence but voiced scepticism about his ability to effect change with Ofori-Atta still holding a significant advisory role.
Adongo argues that this configuration may limit Adam’s independence, as Ofori-Atta’s advice to the President could potentially override Adam’s decisions, thus questioning the effectiveness of the reshuffle.
