‘It is possible’ – TUC endorses Bawumia’s vision for private sector

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), held a pivotal meeting with the leadership and members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Wednesday as part of his “Bold Solutions for the Future Engagements” initiative.

During the meeting, Dr. Bawumia reaffirmed his commitment to reducing government borrowing and promoting fiscal discipline through strategic partnerships with the private sector.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the crucial role of a robust private sector in achieving national economic goals and lessening the dependency on government borrowing.

“Empowering the private sector is essential to alleviating some of the fiscal pressures on the government and fostering a sustainable economic environment,” he stated.

His campaign slogan, “It is Possible,” resonated throughout the meeting, symbolizing optimism and determination.

Alex Nyarko-Opoku, Chairman of the TUC, praised Dr. Bawumia’s remarkable career trajectory from Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana to Vice President and now a presidential hopeful.

“Your journey embodies the essence of the slogan ‘It is Possible,'” Nyarko-Opoku remarked.

Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, General Secretary of the TUC, also lauded the slogan’s positive impact on the nation.

He echoed Dr. Bawumia’s sentiments, saying, “Ideas, systems, and institutions are ingredients for transforming a country.”

Dr. Baah expressed the TUC’s support for Dr. Bawumia’s initiatives and presented the “TUC Manifesto,” demonstrating the union’s readiness to collaborate with the government.

“We are prepared to work with the government to achieve these goals,” Dr. Baah affirmed.

He also called for a constitutional amendment to redistribute power more equitably between the President and the populace, reflecting the TUC’s dedication to fair governance and collective problem-solving.

This engagement with the TUC signifies a major step towards a collaborative governance approach focused on private-sector partnerships and fiscal responsibility.

Dr. Bawumia aims to build a more resilient and prosperous Ghana through these initiatives.

The TUC’s willingness to collaborate highlights the potential for substantial progress in addressing national challenges and driving sustainable development.

As Dr. Bawumia continues his ‘Bold Solutions for the Future Engagements,’ his dialogue with the TUC sets a precedent for inclusive and constructive collaboration between political leaders and key societal stakeholders.

“This meeting exemplifies our commitment to collective efforts and innovative ideas as essential pathways to national prosperity,” Dr. Bawumia said.
