Jasikan Catholic Diocese Condemn Attack on Catholic Priests at Nkwanta

The Jasikan Diocesan Youth Council (JADYC) has strongly condemned the violent attack on the Kpassa Catholic priests at Nkwanta on December 11, 2024.

According to the group, the senseless act of brutality is unacceptable and deserves swift condemnation from all quarters.

JADYC Secretary in a statement said the Catholic Church has always been a beacon of peace, love, and compassion, and it is disturbing to see its clergy being targeted in this manner.

“We call on the authorities to take immediate action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and security of all citizens, particularly the clergy.”

It stated “that as the National Peace Council in Ghana has previously done, JADYC urges all parties involved to exercise restraint and allow the law to take its course. JADYC also appeals to the public to remain calm and not take the law into their own hands.”

The statement added “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the entire Catholic community in Ghana. May God bring healing, comfort, and peace to all those affected.”

Meanwhile the Ghana Police Service has begun investigations into the incident.

The Service in a statement said efforts are underway to apprehend and bring the perpetrators before the law.
