Former Information Minister John Tia Akologo reported dead

A former Minister of Information, John Tia Akologo, has passed away.

He reportedly died in the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga after a brief illness.

John Tia Akologo represented Talensi constituency as an MP from 1993 to 2013.

Following his tenure in parliament, he served as Ghana’s Ambassador to Cuba from 2014 to 2016, until the NDC lost the general elections.

During his time in Parliament, Mr Tia progressed from a backbencher to various positions of increasing responsibility, serving as Deputy Minority Whip from 2001 to 2004, Minority Whip from 2005 to 2008, Deputy Majority Leader from 2009 to 2010, and ultimately as the Minister of Information.
