Jomoro Victory: It’s refreshing the legal system works – Gabby mocks NDC

A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Gabby Otchere-Darko has reminded the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the legal system in Ghana works following the NDC’s legal victory over the Jomoro Parliamentary seat.

In a tweet, Mr Otchere-Darko said “Congrats! It is refreshing to be amply reminded that the legal system works! That, Lady Justice remains blind.”

This was after special aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari celebrated the legal victory.

She congratulated former Attorney General  Marietta Brew Appiah-Oppong and a private legal practitioner Edudzi Tameklo for putting up a good defense in court to leading to the victory.

“We won Jomoro. Petition dismissed Marietta Brew Former AG!Edudzi Tameklo!” she tweeted.

On Monday November 21, a Sekondi High Court dismissed an election petition seeking to challenge the eligibility of the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro in the Western Region Dorcas Affo-Toffey.

The presiding judge, Justice Dr. Richmond Ose, while making reference from Article 48 of the Ivorian Nationality Code, ruled that the first respondent Dorcas Affo-Toffey was eligible to contest as she had amply satisfied requirements needed for her to renounce and also lose her Ivorian citizenship.
