Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has taken a jab at people questioning the players commitment to the national course by stating that the Stars are in Cote D’Ivoire to win.
He took this swipe during his press conference appearance before Ghana takes on Egypt in the second Group B games for both nations.
Ghana plays Egypt on Thursday, January 18 at 20:00 GMT after losing its opening game for the second AFCON campaign in a row.
The Black Stars lost 1-2 to Cape Verde and need a win to boost their chances of avoiding a second straight AFCON group stage exit.
When the issue of commitment was brought up, Jordan Ayew quickly shot down the idea by stating,
“We didn’t come here to visit Abidjan, we came here to win and responded to a question on the potential of the Black Stars crashing out at the group stage in back to back AFCONS with another jab.
“Are we disqualified yet? Wait after that happens, then you can talk” he said
in the presence of Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton who wasn’t sure about key midfielder Mohammed Kudus’ availability for the Egypt clash. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
