Juaben MCE nominee arrested for alleged bribery of assembly members

The Ashanti Region Police has arrested the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben to assist police investigations into alleged bribery of Assembly members for votes.

The Nominee, Alex Sarfo Kantanka, reportedly demanded a fund of monies he allegedly paid to the assembly members after they failed to confirm him as MCE for Juaben.

According to the police, the Nominee’s caution statement was taken and subsequently granted bail but the investigations continue.

JUABEN MCE NOMINEE ARRESTED

1. The Ashanti Regional Police yesterday, 1st November, 2021, arrested the Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben in the Ashanti Region to assist Police investigations.

2. The arrest was in connection with a viral video of the nominee, Mr. Alex Sarfo Kantanka, allegedly demanding a refund of some sums of money he had allegedly paid to Assembly Members to vote for his confirmation as the MCE for the Juaben Municipal Area.

3. After his Investigation Caution Statement was taken, Mr. Alex Sarfo Kantanka was granted bail.

4. Police investigations continue and we would like to assure the public that anyone who breaks the law will be arrested and subjected to due legal process since no one is above the law.
