Koku Anyidoho Sues Bobie For Defamation; Demands GH¢1 Million Damages

The Founder of the Atta-Mills Institute Koku Anyidoho, has sued Accra Fm’s broadcast journalist Kwabena Bobie Ansah and one J.M Ba Kwadwo for defamation.

The former Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), says he was defamed when Mr. Ansah on February 7, 2022 uttered certain statements on youtube page casting serious insinuation on his integrity.

He said per the said utterances, the plaintiff sough to suggest that he (Anyidoho) has a hand in the death of former president J.E.A Mills who died few years ago.

According to the writ of summon, lawyers of Mr. Anyidoho, claim that the plaintiff per the said defamatory statements meant to say that the plaintiff has made several attempts on the  life of former president John Dramani Mahama by sending his pictures to shrines to cause his premature death, a fact he knows was untrue.

The lawyers again noted that Mr. Ansah on the same day made a statement that the plaintiff stole the briefcase of the late president mills containing large amounts of dollars a fact he also knows to be untrue.

In the case of J.M Ba Kwadwo, he also widely circulated and distributed the video on Pendream Television station without averting his mind to the veracity or otherwise of the statements.

As a result, the plaintiff is demanding One Million Ghana cedis in damages as well as compensatory and exemplary damages.

He is also “seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the defendant from uttering and distributing any further defamatory material about the plaintiff.”
